What Are Synthethic (Compounded) Fragrances?
Synthetic fragrance oils are artificially created fragrances used to scent a variety of products, including candles, soaps, lotions, and perfumes. They are typically created using essential oils, chemical compounds, and other aromatic ingredients. Synthetic fragrance oils are often more affordable than essential oils and can provide a more consistent scent over time.

Synthetic fragrance oils are used in cosmetics because they are a cheaper and easier way to add fragrance to products than using natural essential oils. They are stable, long-lasting and can be tailored to create a specific scent. Synthetic fragrance oils can also be blended together to create more complex fragrances. Although the palette of natural ingredients from which the perfumer can draw has increased substantially, there are many more synthetic aroma chemicals available, allowing perfumers greater creative freedom.
